Being well means taking care of our physical, mental and emotional health. In good health, we feel more energetic, happier and can stay independent and live longer.
You can use this website to search for three types of support:
Services and support are what you access online or via helplines for advice and information, or even treatments.
In this directory you will find dedicated services and large non-profit organisations. Some of these are commissioned for residents in the East Riding of Yorkshire, led by East Riding of Yorkshire Council Teams or are simply acknowledged as established services available in the UK.
There may also be training opportunities and specialised support for community groups and employers.
While we are not a source of health information and advice, we do provide some basic information of the main areas of health and wellbeing that we, as East Riding of Yorkshire Council and partners, offer support on and to help you understand the topic in order to find the most suitable service, support or community led group available to you.
We run many specific campaigns, which may be ongoing or limited times, as well, to further support awareness, and acceptance, allowing people to thrive in the East Riding.
Find a variety of local groups and businesses that you can join, visit or take part in.
In this directory, you can look for locally run groups with the intention of social, support, craft, sport and more. These groups are completely community led and/or created. The council have no responsibility or association with these groups. The information is correct at time of print, but due to the nature of community groups, can change at any time. Any queries or complaints should be directed to the group directly.
Also included in the directory is small businesses and sole traders, local parish and town councils, venues and buildings
The public health team are responsible for improving the health and wellbeing of local residents. The team commission services to help build healthier lifestyles as well as ensure access to mental health and support services to enable people to stay independent for longer. Social prescribing is about linking residents with local community groups and services that offer support and advice to help them, improving self-care and tackling the social causes of ill health and wellbeing. Following a successful trial in early 2018, social prescribing has been rolled out across all GP Practices in the East Riding.
