Health and Wellbeing Training

Becoming health champions

Community and Workplace Health and Wellbeing Training for any organisation or voluntary group who would like to support learning around health and wellbeing. There is a range of opportunities that can be accessed from a range of providers, some are free whilst others may require some funding. Healthy Chat is a good starting point to understand the range of public health issues and information in East Riding to enable people to Make Every Contact Count in daily interactions, providing consistent messages and signposting to services. Topic specific training can develop Champions specialist knowledge in a particular area, such as cancer, mental health or dementia.

Mental health training

Further resources and opportunities for training specifically to support mental health can be found on the Supporting others page in the Healthy Minds section, including training with HEY Mind and online Talk Suicide.

Opportunities

There are many providers available. You can find a selection below, or search for more in the services and groups directory on the Find Wellbeing page.

CPR Training Kits

Community groups and charities now have better access to CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) training thanks to Smile Foundation and East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Public Health Team.

CPR is a lifesaving action that is given to someone who is in cardiac arrest. If more people in the community were trained in CPR skills then many lives could be saved. Together we can push up survival rates.

Join the East Riding community of lifesavers by hosting CPR training. The short informal workshops will give people the confidence and skills to make a difference in your community.

If you are a community group that is interested in hosting a free CPR training session, contact Smile on hive@heysmilefoundation.org or visit Smile's The Vault website for availability of training kits in your area.
